About Maggie

Maggie Alderson has published six novels and four books of columns. She has edited four glossy magazines including Elle and ES (and was Editor of the Year for that one) and four newspaper sections. Maggie has written for eight newspaper columns and contributed to at least twenty international magazines. She has two blogs. And one daughter.

In Australia, Maggie is also fondly remembered by the editor of this site as the columnist in the Good Weekend magazine where (says happychild's editor) she made fashion interesting reading even for the clueless. Maggie's column in the Good Weekend ran for ten years and has been collected into three books.

Maggie's column The Rules appears in the S section of the Sun Herald and the M section, in the Sunday Age.

Style Notes is Maggie's most recent book. It includes information such as: "find out why men hate shopping and why women love wearing clothes men hate.  Share the frustration of the search for the perfect Walkable Heeled Shoe and consider whether a size 'large' item of clothing is acceptable as a gift. Learn why it's good if your child is too embarrassed to be seen with you, and how to harness your life force through the power of yoga – and liberally applied make-up."
