About Catherine
Catherine lives in Sydney in a soon-to-be-renovated inner city domestic palace with her husband, four kids and a large neurotic hairy dog. She knows that having four children does not automatically make her an expert in parenting. Catherine thinks her kids will reach adulthood despite, rather than because of her; she describes her children as being like little meteors, hurtling along on their own trajectories, undisturbed by the background noise of her exhortations and heading determinedly towards their own destinations.
Catherine is also an accomplished artist, having successfully sold out her pieces at Sydney exhibitions. Amazingly, Catherine still finds an occasional moment to paint and draw. Currently, Catherine is at the submit-to-publishers-and-wait stage of publishing a children's picture story book featuring glorious pictures of the aforementioned hairy neurotic dog.

Camping Dads and Feral Kids
10/07/2010 - 14:26
Yes Libby. The top end brings the truly feral out in nearly all children. We took three months a couple of years ago in a camper and although we had some degree of camper fever at times, particularly my partner who had never spent such an amount of "quantity" time with us all, it remains pretty much the highlight of our family time. Not sure whether I could let him do it on his own. I m confident he would do a fine job. It s more that I would be insanely jealous of the adventure. You re so right. Everything looks just wonderful around a fire, waiting for that roast ,with a glass of wine. We re going to leave the trumpet at home next time though.
