Take the 'Two Things' Parenting Challenge

By Mihiri Udabage - 29th February 2012

Glen Whitman, an economist, is a fan of The Two Things Game.  Have you played it? The idea is, that for any given subject, there are two key things you need to know.

For example, when asked for a Two Things rule for economics, Whitman replied, “Okay, here are the Two Things about economics. One: Incentives matter. Two: There’s no such thing as a free lunch.”

Here are two other examples found on Whitman’s webpage, contributed by his readers.

The Two Things about Being a House Husband:
1. That can wait until tomorrow.
2. That can too.
J. Ross

The Two Things about Driving:
1.  Don't hit anything.
2.  Don't let anything hit you.
Lorelai's friend's uncle

Get the idea?  Shall we play?

Here’s  my question:  What is your Two Things rule for raising children?
I’ll go first.
1. Teach them well
2. Love them more
(I also think Lorelai’s friend’s uncle’s suggestion from above could apply here )

Now it’s your turn.  What is your Two Things rule for raising children?
