Teen Motherhood will Always be a Challenge

By Yvette Vignando - 18th August 2011

It's difficult to comment on other people's personal circumstances without full knowledge of their backgrounds, values and capacities to cope. But what most people will agree on is that parenting while you are a teenager is always going to be a challenge. It's a big call learning how to parent well when you still need parenting yourself.

This story is about Soya Keaveny who came to the attention of the media at 12 when she was a bikini model and told journalists she was exercising two hours every day and doing 200 push ups to maintain a skinny look. It's not clear exactly how Soya Keaveny's pregnancy came to the attention of the media again but it is reported she has posted baby scan photos on her Facebook page and that a PR agent has been hired to field media enquiries.

As you will hear from my comments, and my unintentional repetition of the word "concern" - that's my main reaction to this - concern. I also commented generally on children being allowed to take part in very adult modeling work, and the recent examples in the French media.
