Yvette, Kerri and Lana: Mums Talk Nonsense

By Yvette Vignando - 11th November 2010

Today I was so happy to meet two women who I was 99.9% sure I would love in real life. On 11 November 2010, I was at the Sydney Bloggers Festival and finally met Kerri Sackville who blogs here and Lana Hirschowitz who blogs here and here. We met on Twitter.

Both mums and writers, Lana and Kerri share their funny, moving, normal lives with an online audience. Their lives might be a different shape to mine and yours and each other's but by blogging, they somehow normalise all the nonsense, love, frustrations and joy that come from parenting, partnering and just getting on with life and renovations.

To document our "in real life" meeting, I took a silly video of the three of us. It is totally unscripted - something which will be patently obvious within the first couple of minutes. Kerri had powdered her nose but Lana and I forgot to touch up our makeup. You'll therefore recognise Kerri as the glamorous powdered-nose one in the middle and Lana on the right.

We talked about being mums, dinner, the challenges of being a mumblogger, kids and so much more. Enjoy this mixture of parenting common sense and the world-according-to-Kerri-Lana-Yvette mixed in with a bit of nonsense. Actually, we did get a little profound about being a 'good parent' in the middle of this conversation somewhere.

Refreshing

It's lovely to see women just being themselves, unscripted! Very 'real' and warm. Thanks (Love the tip about the duck dish!)
